(Gangreung, Gangwon Province/ Jeong, Man-yeong(80yrs), Yi, Jin-gi(73yrs), Kim, Jin-Seok(72yrs), Choi, Don-ui(70yrs)/ 1994)
◆ Sung while cutting rice stalks using a sickle and tying them into a sheaf. Usually in one stroke of a sickle, four stalks are cut. Therefore, with three strokes, there are twelve stalks, making a handful which is placed on the ground. Then three handfuls are tied together to make one sheaf. The farmers hold a 'Dan-naegi', a competition to see who can cut the rice stalks more quickly. The song sung during such competition is also called 'Dan-bullim'.

When you tie-up, I also tie-up another bundle
On your heels, I also tie-up another bundle…”
